Rajiv Aarogyasri Scheme (RAS)

Rajiv Aarogyasri scheme is a welcome initiative by Andhra Pradesh State Government. To streamline its implementation, Aarogyasri Health Care Trust has been founded. This community health scheme was implemented in Andhra Pradesh from 1st April, 2007.

RAS is especially useful for people living below poverty line (BPL) who receive financial protection up to Rs. 2 Lakhs annually for treatment of diseases which require surgery and hospitalization. Even pre-existing cases of diseases are covered under this scheme. Ailments include treatment for cancer, Poly-trauma and heart, liver, lung, pancreas, kidney ailments, neurosurgery, prostheses (artificial limbs) and post-burn contracture surgeries etc. For assistance, 'Aarogya Mitras' are available at help desks in Primary Health Centres (PHCs), district and local hospitals.
