The first passenger train started functioning from this station only in 1921! The reason for this delay was that Begumpet Railway Station was under construction. The railway line passed through the property of Sir Vicar-Ul Umra who contended that trains should stop at Begumpet.

After he granted permission, the construction of this station was complete and trains began to ply between Hyderabad and its twin city Secunderabad, passing through Begumpet Railway Station or Hussain Sagar Junction.

Today, Hyderabad Deccan Railway Station is a busy station with many super fast and express trains originating from here.
