Lumbini Park in Hyderabad

Lumbini Park is located near Hussain Sagar on Tank Bund road, with important tourist attractions such as Birla Mandir, State Secretariat  and Necklace road in the vicinity.

It was constructed in 1994 and was in news in 2007 due to the bomb attack on 25th August,2007 which claimed many lives. The park boasts of a laser auditorium, boating facilities, fun rides  and musical fountains! The auditorium has a seating capacity of around 2000 people.

The park was renamed T.Anjaiah Lumbini Park in honour of late Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh State. This park derives its name from 'Lumbini' which was the birth place of Prince Siddhartha who followed the spiritual path later and became Buddha - the enlightened one.

The laser show showcases Indian Culture and history of Hyderabad city. If you take a boat ride, you can get a closer look of the monolithic Buddha statue standing on the Rock of Gibraltar in the midst of Hussain Sagar lake.

The speed boat takes you around the Buddha statue. The park was constructed at a cost of 2.35 crores and functions under administrative control of Government of Andhra Pradesh.
