Ramoji Film CityRamoji Film City

Enter the  dream world by visiting the very famous Ramoji Film city. An hour long drive from the main city on the Vijawvada highway and you shall reach your destination. It is the world’s largest film studio and this has been certified by the Guinness World Records. Spread over an area of 1666 acres it gives the visitors a great chance to experience film making up close and personal. From fun games to rides and restaurants to hotels, it has something for everyone. Each year over a million tourists visit Ramoji Film City.

Char Minar

Char Minar has been the identity and pride of Hyderabad. Built in 1591 by Mohammed Quli Qutb Shah, it is an architectural masterpiece. A flight of 149 steps lead you to the top of the structure. One can also see the famous Golconda fort from the first floor balcony. char minar
The monument is a perfect example of great Islamic Structure. Made with granite, limestone, mortar and pulverised marble the structure has to be seen to be believed. Laced with intricate carvings and motifs that are particular to most Islamic structures, Char Minar would certainly leave you mesmerized.

And when you have finished the sightseeing, don’t forget to savor the taste of local delicacies like nan, kebab, jalebi and much more in the streets around Char Minar. It is also a great place for shopping buffs. From exquisite zardosi work to kohl, jewellery to expensive fabric, it has it all. Birla Mandir

Birla Mandir is yet another popular monument of Hyderabad that you should definitely pay a visit. Built in 1976, this temple is dedicated to Venkateshwara and is a very popular Hindu pilgrimage center. It has been constructed in while Rajasthani marble and overlooks the famous Hussain Sagar. The temple offers a breath taking view of the entire city, especially at sunset. Also not to be missed is the library on the premises.

Golconda Fort

Golconda which is today a ruined city in Southern India was once the capital of the Kingdom of Golconda. It is situated 11 km west of Hyderabad and is a must visit for all the history buffs. The region is known for its mines that have produced some of the world’s most precious and coveted gems like – the hope diamond, Kohinoor and idol’s eye.

Golconda consists of four distinct forts in addition to the numerous temples, gateways, mosques and halls. The fort of Golconda is known for its magical acoustic system. So the next time you are in Hyderabad, don’t miss this engineering marvel. You’ll be delighted to see that how after centuries a place can have the essence of its magic.


Some of the other places that should be included in your itinerary, if not on a whirlwind tour are:

  • Hyderabad International Convention centre – a great place if you are on a business trip, the centre offers all the modern facilities
  • Chowmahalla Palace – it is a treat for the eyes. The palace was built as a replica of the Shah’s palace of Tehran and gives a true Nizam feel
  • Sudha Cars Museum – this wacky museum is a must visit when you are in Hyderabad. The museum displays a wide variety (actually 150 in total) of fully functional cars in an array of shapes like – stilettoes, burger, camera, helmet etc.
  • Lumbini Park Laserium – if you are also fascinated by lasers, then this one is for you. Located in the Lumbini Park, the laserium is a visual treat. The 30 minute show is India’s first multimedia laser show and the gallery has a seating capacity of about 2000 people. It also displays an array of musical fountains with 116 water effects.

Must Eat in Hyderabad

BiryaniThe one thing that you cannot miss when in Hyderabad is certainly the evergreen Hyderabadi Biryani. Considered amongst the most popular and most preferred food items of the Mughals, Hyderabad is known for its authentic biryani. Savour the taste of this specialty with Mirchi ka salan and you shall be transported into a different world altogether. Although Paradise Biryani is the most popular restaurant but you can find different versions of the dish all over the city. 

And now for something sweet, don’t miss the chance to taste the goodies at Karachi Bakery. Known for its delicious cookies, cakes and pastries you would really enjoy this experience.  

Must Do in Hyderabad

Shopping is a must do thing when you visit any city and Hyderabad is no exception. Infact when on a trip to Hyderabad, how can you not bring home the famous Hyderabadi pearl.

Now talking about the famous Laad Bazar. In close vicinity to Char Minar, Laad Bazar has around 100 shops that sell stone studded lac bangles. The price range is from 50/- to around 2000/- for a set of six bangles.
